"Dreams" by Langsten Hughes is about how you should hold on to dreams, and how life without dreams is boring and pointless. He also describes how you should always have dreams in your life, even if you cannot achieve them at the time. My feelings toward this poem are that I think it teaches an important lesson. I thought that it was interesting how the author compared life to different things like birds and a barren field. This poem has many metaphors like when he says, "life is a barren field..." and, "Life is a broken-winged bird..." where the author compares life to a bird and a barren field. Another poetic device is rhyme, when the author rhymes "go. . ." and "snow. . ." and also "die. . ." and "fly. . ." One last poetic device used in this poem is personification, when the author says that, "if dreams die..." and dreams do not live in the human sense and therefore cannot die. Overall, I thought this poem was very interesting and I enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading more poems by Langston Hughes.
