"Woman Work" by Maya Angelou is about all the work women have fo complete in one day, and how it is very tiring. The author describes the woman as exausted, and needing a rest from all this work. She says that nature is the only thing she has. I really enjoyed reading this poem, especially the last four stanzas. I like how the author uses nature as giving her a break and letting her rest. This poem uses a lot of imagery, like when the author says she has clothes to mend, tots to dress, and a garden to weed. Each of these chores makes a picture in your head. Another poetic device used in this poem is rhyme scheme. In the first stanza, the author uses AABBCC etc. There is no rhyme scheme throughout the rest of the poem, but in the last two stanzas the author uses ryhme. She rhymes "white. . ." and "tonight. . ." and also "stone. . ." and "own. . ." Also, the author uses alliteration in this poem when she says, "Shine on me sunshine. . ." Overall, I thought this poem was very interesting, and I enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading more poems by Maya Angelou
