"The Seven Ages of Man" by William Shakespeare is about the seven stages a human goes through. He describes each step and what it is like to be at each given age. The author used many poetic devices, such as extended metaphor. He compares people to actors and life to a stage. Also, some other poetic devices used were imagery, when he decribed each stage and created a certain picture, and metaphors when he says, "All the world's a stage. . ." Another device is similes, when he says, "creeping like a snail. . ." and rhyme, such as side and wide. One last device used is repitition, when he repeats "sans. . ." Overall, I enjoyed reading this poem, and I thought that it had a sad but yet true ending. I like how William Shakespeare described life in steps, and I would enjoy reading more of his poems.
